90 pitches.

The beach is 3 km and the bus station is outside the site to the centre which is 1 km away.

This is another new MH park (opened by the council in September 2012) in Albufeira in the old football stadium.  The toilet block is the old changing rooms.  All the pitches are gravel. Lidl and the municipal market are very near.  The bus station is just outside the site.

Overall the site is well maintained and the staff are helpful.

Welcome Parking area at Lidl

A welcome Parking area at Lidl

We were impressed with Lidl as they are the first supermarket we have come across who had specially marked large parking bays and a big sign up welcoming Motorhomes.  It makes it so much nicer.

What we really liked about this MH park was the location.  It only took 20 minutes to walk into the old town of Albufeira.  At first, we didn’t know how to get into the town and the parking attendant did not understand us when we asked but we got speaking to an English couple who gave us directions. For anyone else wishing to stay at this Motorhome Park here are the directions to walk into the Old Town of Albufeira.

Directions from Parque da Palmeria to Albufeira Old Town

If you turn left out of the site, cross the road and take the 2nd on your right – Rua sa Alfarrobeira.  Follow this to the end and then turn left into Rua dos Bombeiros ( there will be an Eco place on your left).  At the end of this road, you will come to the dual carriageway.  Crossover and take the road to the right of the white building – Rua das Telecomunicacoes.  Carry on down this road to the end – this takes you to the viewpoint overlooking the beach, where on the right is the escalator down into town.  It’s about a 20-minute walk.

Albufeira is the main tourist destination in the Algarve.  Its famous for its nightlife and beaches.  The two main areas where partying is the most lively are The strip in oura and Areias de S. Joao and the “Street of Bars” in the Old Town.

There is an ACSI site at Albufeira but that looked a bit too far out to walk so we would definitely go back to the football stadium again if we were in the area although we would prefer to stay longer at Alvor now we have discovered it as it is less commercialised.

While in Albufeira we visited the Fiesta – International sand sculpture festival which is a mega exhibition of sand sculptures.  They have different themes every year and have been held since 2003.  Music was the theme this year.
